Alabama teen dies after head injury during high school football game
According to remarks from school administrators and the teen's family, a high school quarterback in Alabama passed away after suffering a brain injury during the team's season opener on Friday night. The town is in sorrow.
Following a head injury sustained during John T. Morgan Academy's game against visiting Southern Academy on Friday night, officials claimed that Caden Tellier was rushed to a hospital in critical condition. The following day, his death was declared.
Tellier was sixteen. Michael McLendon, the executive director of the Alabama Independent School Association, stated on social media that he had a brain damage. Informants withdrew information regarding Tellier's injuries.
Tellier's parents released a statement on Saturday stating, "Our boy, Caden Tellier, has met Jesus face to face."
In their statement, his parents said, "Lives have been touched by the way he lived and now lives will be saved through his passing."
Oliver referred to Tellier as a "shining light" who adorned the private school's hallways in Selma, Alabama.
He was an athlete, a buddy, a student, and most importantly, a follower of Christ. Oliver wrote on social media, "There are no words to express how we feel as a school community and family.
According to the Tellier family, a service will be arranged shortly. The Morgan Academy school association reports that this week's events have been suspended by the administration.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Tellier's parents said, "Our boy, Caden Tellier, has met Jesus face to face."
Michael McLendon, executive director of the Alabama Independent School Association said in a statement that he backed the school's decision to cancel all classes and activities this week, "giving their community time to come together, reflect, and support one another through this heartbreaking time."
"As a small school, Morgan Academy feels this tragedy even more deeply," McLendon said.
